In celebration of its 10th anniversary, The Sprout Fund has commissioned the creation of a signature work of public art in Downtown Pittsburgh. With a $100,000 budget, the project, to be located at the Law & Finance Building on 4th Avenue, is the largest single public art project in Sprout’s history.
After a national search for highly qualified artists with Pittsburgh roots, four teams of finalists were selected by Sprout’s Public Art Committee to create design proposals. On December 5, the finalists were revealed at the 2011 Public Art Forum. The event was held at the Cabaret at Theater Square and provided Downtown stakeholders with the chance to meet the competing artists and learn about public art in the city. Renee Piechocki of the Office of Public Art and Steve Glassman of the CDCP presented at the Forum.
