How to Apply
Spark has made all of its funding awards for 2011 and there are no current funding opportunities. Check back regularly to see when our first funding round will be in 2012.
Before preparing an application, be sure to learn about the Spark Program Guidelines to familiarize yourself with Project Criteria, Eligibility Requirements, and Award Specifications.
Micro Spark
Micro Spark is an award of up to $15,000 to projects that engage young children in the creative use of technology and media. Awarded three times a year, Micro Sparks catalyzed 20 new projects from 2009 to 2011. Read more about Spark’s Funded Projects.
Super Spark
Super Spark is an award of up to $50,000 to large-scale projects that make an impact on an annual topic. In 2009 the topic was Kids at Play, in 2010 Super Spark focused on Early Childhood Learning, and in 2011, Super Spark supported projects that energized Children’s Creativity. Submitting Your Application
The Sprout Fund prefers to receive all application materials electronically. Spark applications may be submitted using Sprout’s online form, which contains text fields for cover sheet information and file upload fields for attachments. You may also email your application materials to gro.dnuftuorpsnull@kraps. If you cannot submit your application electronically, you may mail or hand-deliver your application to Sprout’s offices; however, Sprout will require electronic copies of application materials in addition to any hard copy applications.
Application Assistance and Development
Spark offers many opportunities for potential applicants to engage with The Sprout Fund’s extensive network of support. All applicants and interested individuals are encouraged to participate in Spark events and activities both prior to submitting an application and after receiving funding. Check the calendar to find and RSVP for upcoming events.
- Application workshops: One-hour workshops held at Sprout’s offices allow prospective applicants to learn more about Spark, have their questions answered, and receive application assistance. Friday workshops occur on the second Friday of every month. Saturday workshops are currently being planned. Check the program calendar for upcoming workshop dates.
- Draft application reviews: Upon request, the Spark Program Manager can review a draft application and provide feedback up to one week prior to submission deadlines.
